Week 4: International Sustainable Development

In week 4, we learned about international sustainable development. The first time the issues of global environment was actively addressed was in Stockholm in 1972 where governments gathered to take part in the UN conference on human environment. The conference's main goal was to foster international cooperation in addressing the environmental issues facing the planet.

Moreover, for this week's class, we were told to visit the RCE exhibition at ICC. RCE, or regional community enterprise, is a network of formal, informal, and non-formal organizations that support learning toward sustainable development in local and regional communities. At the event, we saw a lot of booths promoting different causes and organizations.

Some of the booths I visited were M Kitchen, an organization that encourages the sharing of food and gives out free food on Fridays. Furthermore, I also saw a booth promoting jungle school which is a program that helps increase the income of the Orang Asli community by educating and inspiring them to take charge of their culture and share it with the world. There were many different types of booths promoting different SDGs at the exhibition and I couldn't see all of them. However, I learned a lot from visiting the booths and from listening to the talk.

That's all from me today! Hopefully you guys can go to an RCE exhibition next time!
